Talk to the teamEstimate based on the 2026 IMT and Stamp Duty tables for mainland Portugal. IMT is charged on the higher of the price and the taxable value of the property (VPT). The flat 7.5% rate applies to non-residents buying a home and has exceptions: it does not apply to anyone who has been a resident of Portugal before, nor to buyers who become residents within two years, and for couples it only applies when both are non-residents. The young buyer exemption is full up to €330,539 and partial up to €660,982. The payment uses the rate you enter and excludes insurance. Deed and bank costs are averages you can change. Confirm the final figures with the notary, the bank and your tax adviser.
